Taxation and GST Advisory Services

Navigating Complexity. Proactive Planning. Minimised Liability.

Overview

Tax is not just a compliance obligation — it is a strategic lever. Our taxation practice covers the full spectrum: from day-to-day GST filings to defending complex Income Tax scrutiny assessments. We stay ahead of regulatory changes so you don't have to.

Who this service is for

Our tax practice is for businesses that file every month, exporters and importers, groups with cross-border transactions, and companies that have received a notice they do not fully understand. We work with private companies, LLPs, startups, family groups and NGOs that need both routine compliance and a considered position on a difficult question.

We prefer to plan before a return is filed. A short review of contracts, invoices and group pricing at the start of the year usually costs less than defending the same position in an assessment two years later.

How the engagement works

  1. Tax health check

We review registrations, past returns, reconciliations and open notices to find exposure before it becomes a demand. You receive a prioritised list of issues with the risk attached to each one.

  2. Compliance calendar and filing

Monthly GST, TDS and advance tax obligations are mapped to your team, with a named reviewer on our side. Filings are reconciled to the books, not just submitted.

  3. Planning and documentation

Where a transaction has more than one possible treatment, we set out the options, the authority for each and the documentation needed to support the position you choose.

  4. Representation

For scrutiny, appeals and departmental hearings, we prepare the reply, compile the evidence and appear with your team. You see every submission before it is filed.

  5. Year-end review

Before the audit, we reconcile tax balances, review provisions and confirm that disclosures match the returns actually filed.

What you can expect

The aim is a tax position you can explain in one page. Every filing should be supported by a reconciliation, every judgement should have a note on file, and every notice should have an owner and a deadline. That discipline is what keeps demands small and surprises rare.

Frequently asked questions

Who needs GST registration?

Registration is mandatory once turnover crosses Rs 40 lakh for goods or Rs 20 lakh for services, and for e-commerce sellers, inter-state suppliers and certain notified categories regardless of turnover. Voluntary registration can still make sense for input credit, so it is worth checking before you decide.

Can you handle our monthly GST and TDS filings?

Yes. We prepare, reconcile and file GST returns, TDS returns and advance tax computations, with a reviewer checking every return before submission. You receive the filed return, the challan and a short reconciliation note each month. Where a document is missing, we tell you before the due date rather than after.

What should we do when a GST notice arrives?

Send it to us immediately with the period and the returns filed. Most notices have a short reply window. We check the department's working against your books, prepare a reply with evidence and, where needed, seek an adjournment rather than miss the date.

How does transfer pricing apply to a small exporter?

If you transact with a related overseas entity, transfer pricing rules can apply even below the audit threshold, and Form 3CEB may be required. We benchmark the transaction, prepare the documentation and keep the pricing defensible before the department asks.

Do you handle income tax scrutiny and appeals?

Yes. We represent clients before the assessing officer, the Commissioner (Appeals) and the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. We prepare the statement of facts, the grounds of appeal and the paper book, and we brief counsel where the matter goes further.

Can you review a tax position before we file?

Yes. A filing review looks at the computation, the disclosures and the supporting documents before submission. It is particularly useful for a first return after a restructuring, a major contract or a change in accounting policy. A review is usually completed in two to three working days.

Do you advise on marketplace and e-commerce sales?

Yes. We cover GST treatment of marketplace fees, discounts and returns, TCS credit, reconciliation of settlement reports with bank entries, and the documentation needed when marketplaces change their reporting format. Settlement reports are reconciled with your bank and GST records every month.

How do you keep up with changes?

The team reviews notifications, circulars and tribunal decisions every week and records anything that affects an active client. Where a change needs action, we send a short note with the deadline and the recommended step rather than a general newsletter.

Do you handle GST refunds for exporters?

Yes. We prepare the refund application with the shipping bills, invoices and bank realisation evidence, reconcile it to GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, and respond to departmental queries. Where a refund is stuck, we review the deficiency memo and represent the case before the officer.
